Democracy for Cuba

Los Caminos is a pamphlet series begun by the Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe (IDEE) in 1996 as part of an initiative to share the experience of Eastern Europe- what it meant to live under the system of communism, different ways people organized opposition to it and the different roads taken from communism- with Cubans who are looking for democratic change.  Many of the articles in Los Caminos are translations of articles and interviews from Uncaptive Minds, a journal of information and analysis on Eastern Europe published by IDEE from 1988-1997.  Eleven of the Spanish translation texts are being reproduced in the OnLine Cuba web page.

In 1999, IDEE, in cooperation with Freedom House, continued the publication series under the name Democracia, which focused more on articles and documents dealing with issues and ideas of democracy and transition.  Where possible, we have provided texts in English and Spanish.
